Press release
codeMantra Partners with New York University Press to Fulfill Publisher’s Digital Publishing Initiative
October 10, 2008, Plymouth Meeting, PA
codeMantra, a leading supplier of digital publishing solutions and asset management technologies, announced today that it has signed a service and support agreement with New York University Press. Under the terms of the agreement codeMantra will supply NYU Press with repository facilities for the publisher’s assets, along with Digital Asset Management (DAM) and Digital Asset Distribution (DAD) capabilities implemented with codeMantra’s Collection Point® platform.
In addition, codeMantra will supply conversion services and workflow as NYUP proceeds to digitize part of its back list and front list titles. The academic press plans to utilize pubXML, codeMantra’s flexible structure (DTD), as the model for its front list titles and selected backlist titles. With pubXML NYUP will be able to efficiently transfer, or configure, its content to such market-specific deliverables as ePub, mobiPocket, PDF, HTML, Amazon’s Search Inside, and Google Book Search, as well as more readily repurpose content for other editorial needs. NYUP plans to address commercial opportunities with ePub and mobiPocket deliverables as well as library and institutional markets using codeMantra’s Universal PDF® (uPDF®) format.
“codeMantra provides the Press with a full range of state-of-the-art digital asset management services, including file conversion to pubXML and other formats, archiving of multiple file formats, an intuitive and user friendly interface, and simple and customized delivery to our many publishing partners,” said Steve Maikowski, Director of NYU Press. “We believe all of these capabilities are necessary to meet the new challenges of electronic and conventional book publishing.”
“We are delighted to welcome NYU Press to our client list. Academic presses like NYU can expect our services and technology to form a seamless extension of their traditional production workflow, freeing staff and resources to concentrate on the day-to-day business of content creation,” says Walter Walker, Director of Publishing Services at codeMantra.
