(February 10, 2009, Plymouth Meeting, PA) - codeMantra, a software and services provider serving the publishing industry, announced today the release of collectionPoint® 2.0 (cP2.0), an upgraded version of its enterprise Digital Asset Management (DAM), distribution and file server platform. This newest version makes available enhanced file management and distribution capabilities under an affordable, ‘pay-as-you-go,’ SaaS pricing model.
Publishers can now get started with collectionPoint 2.0 for as little as $3,000 – an affordable on-ramp for even the smallest of publishing houses. Equally affordable are cP2.0 distribution fees, making it possible to distribute an eBook to any vendor or distribution partner for about the price of a cup of coffee.
“Managing the digital publishing process has never been as complex as it is today. There are multiple formats and multiple distribution outlets to consider. There is a myriad of requirements that must be met in order to be successful. Our platform provides an affordable set of tools to manage this process and ensures the most profitable results,” said Suresh Chakravarthy, CEO of codeMantra.
collectionPoint was one of the first content repository and online archival platforms designed specifically for digital publishing. The platform provides a suite of tools which allows publishers to manage their entire digital asset collection remotely through a web-based interface. Assets reside on a dedicated server in codeMantra’s secure facility in Ashburn, VA. The system controls user access via standard browser technology and web services applications. The hosted solution is accessible from anywhere in the world via the internet.
For most of its clients, collectionPoint serves as a virtual warehouse. The platform’s customizable file structure and metadata-driven interface enables publishers to take full charge of their IP and copyright – managing production, conversion and distribution decisions and processes. Business rules can be created to meet pre-configured format and distribution requirements in line with the fulfillment and delivery mandates of the market’s leading aggregators, wholesalers, retailers and search engines. Productivity, time-to-market and expanded market reach are among the many ROI benefits realized the platform’s current customer base.
With collectionPoint 2.0 users can further take charge of their digital publishing programs. New features added to the platform make it possible to browse a manifest of any zipped file within cP2.0, render the contents of any jpg, tiff, gif, uPDF, XML, mobiPocket or ePub file in the built-in viewers and download one or more files directly to the desktop. Dashboards displaying metadata can be customized to meet the specific needs of the user. Enhanced filtering strengthens cP2.0’s search capabilities, where multiple files can now be selected and downloaded directly from the search results.
collectionPoint 2.0 also offers enhanced production reporting and oversight features. Users can now set advanced business rules for conversion, monitor work in progress, and activate and respond to queries. A calendar tool is also available that tracks deliverables, along with past and future production deadlines.
Add-on applications set a course for future releases of collectionPoint. In this latest version, codeMantra offers automated and semi-automated composition capabilities. Users will be able to take full advantage of their tagged metadata within cP2.0 to generate electronic or print-ready catalogs. Using proprietary tools and licensed software, codeMantra has devised semi-automated ‘through-puts’ for total book composition. The platform also offers a browser-based widget creation tool, which will empower editors, marketing managers, rights managers, or any other authorized user, to create a web-based ‘sampler’ or preview copy of any title.
Publishing has long held out the hope of greater efficiencies in digital book production and distribution, but for many the cost of entry has been too high. With the release of collectionPoint 2.0 and codeMantra’s new SaaS pricing model, those barriers to entry have been greatly reduced.
